Focus, Fun, and a Future Star: Burnham U9s Training Report.

Focus, Fun, and a Future Star: Burnham U9s Training Report.

Greg Mann27 Mar - 21:11

Birthday celebrations and a standout performance mark a special evening on the training pitch

With the season drawing to a close, the Burnham U9s rolled into one of their final training sessions with a celebratory spirit—and not just because lighter evenings. A double birthday shoutout to Thomas and George set the tone for a fun-filled evening, with energy levels high and smiles all around.

But the team didn’t just come to party—they came to train. And train they did, throwing themselves into drills with their usual enthusiasm. For the first time, the players were introduced to crash mats alongside the tackle bags, which brought a whole new level of excitement to the session. While some got caught up in the buzz, one player rose above the noise and delivered a masterclass in focus: Sophie.

It was clear to coaches Mason and Eddie that the latest talent from the Jaggard stable was in a league of her own tonight. Already known for her speed and strength—traits that run in the family—Sophie brought something extra this time. Her concentration, composure, and commitment stood out, even when matched up against the older U9s. Whether in or out of possession, Sophie was simply outstanding.

Her efforts were rightly rewarded with the coveted training trophy. Sophie didn’t just train well—she set an example.

Her timing couldn’t be better either, as she gears up to represent the U8s at the Chelmsford Festival this Sunday. If her performance tonight is anything to go by, she’s set to steal the show.

It was a night that blended fun with focus, reminding us all why this group is so special. One more session and one big match to go—but tonight belonged to Sophie.
